“Over the past couple of months I have been training for the Liege-Bastogne-Liege sportive and have been cramming in the miles around work and home life.

“To help my flagging energy levels I bought some of our new OTE Lemon & Lime energy gel.

“The gel packaging is great, it features a dual delivery system where you can choose either to sip the gel by ripping the top section or gulp the gel in one go by ripping the bottom section. I wanted a quick boost so I opted for the gulp method.

“The gel tastes amazing and is light and refreshing, this is down to the fact that they are made from real fruit concentrates with no artificial sweeteners or colours. It was really light on my stomach and didn’t require washing down with water like some other gels.

“The gel itself contains electrolytes to replace the ones lost through sweating and 20.5 grams of carbohydrates to deliver energy to your muscles. OTE also have a brilliant Energy System guide on their website showing, based on your body’s build, how much carbohydrate you need to consume per hour.

“OTE gels are suitable for vegetarians, vegans, gluten free, dairy free and kosher diets and are available in three flavours, lemon & lime, orange and pineapple with caffeine.”

Staff Favourite: Uvex Quatro Pro helmet

Raleigh’s Bryan Harris talks about his favourite new product:

“Over the past few weeks I have been wearing the new Uvex Quatro Pro trail/enduro helmet while out riding my local trails.

Image“The first thing to mention about the helmet is the awesome bright colours, it gets you noticed while out and about. You can get subtle colour options as well.

“The Quatro Pro has some great features that run through the Uvex range like the new IAS sizing system. This means you can custom fit the helmet perfectly to your head in every direction. Uvex use a special multi-stage buckle system that enables you to open and close with one hand and adjust to fit perfectly. The lining pads that come with the helmet are antibacterial and can easily be removed for washing.

“The Quatro Pro is a very comfy lightweight helmet that provides your head with loads more rear coverage than a standard helmet. It looks really aggressive and bang on trend with the rear spoiler that helps provide an increase in down force while riding at high speed (and it makes the helmet look great)!

Image“There are 17 vents that allow loads of air to pass through the helmet keeping you cool. It also has a height adjustable visor to keep the sun out of your eyes. You can also attach a JVC Adixxion camera to the top of the helmet with the universal mount.

“I can highly recommend the Uvex Quatro Pro helmet for all mountain bike use from Enduro to flowing singletrack riding.”

You’ll find the Uvex Quatro Pro on Raleigh’s website here.
